چکیده

GPS radio occultation (RO) signals are highly coherent and precise, and thus sufficient for holographic investigation of the atmosphere, ionosphere, and the Earth’s surface from space. In principle, three-dimensional radio-holographic remote sensing is possible by using new radio holographic equations to retrieve the radio field within the atmosphere from a radio field known at some interface outside the atmosphere. A simplified twodimensional form of the radio-holographic equations which are developed under an assumption of local spherical symmetry can be used to obtain twodimensional radio images of the atmosphere and terrestrial surface. To achieve this, radio holograms recorded by a GPS receiver onboard a low earth orbit (LEO) satellite at two GPS frequencies can be used and focused synthetic aperture principle applied. Analysis of GPS/MET RO data is presented to show the effectiveness of a radio-holographic approach. It is shown that the amplitude of GPS radio signals (in addition to phase data) can be used to obtain detailed altitude profiles of the vertical gradient of refractivity in the atmosphere and electron density in the mesosphere. The results demonstrate the applicability of GPS radio holography for a detailed global study of the natural processes in the atmosphere and mesosphere.

Diffractive vector and scalar integrals for bistatic radio holographic remote sensing

[1] We introduce new vector diffractive integrals, which can be used for the radio holographic remote sensing of the atmosphere and terrestrial surfaces. These integrals are exact relationships connecting the electromagnetic fields known at some interface or curve in space with radio fields on the terrestrial surface or inside the atmosphere. They allow one to restore the radio image of the atm...

Remote Sensing of Tidal Situation by Monitoring Changes in Suspended Sediment Concentration in Surface Waters

Collecting information on suspended sediments concentration (SSC) in coastal waters and estuaries is vital for proper management of coastal environments. Traditionally, SSC used to be measured by time consuming and costly point measurements. This method allows the accurate measurement of SSC only for a point in space and time. Remote sensing from air-borne and space-borne sensors have proved to...

سنجش اثرات سبزینگی گیاهی در تحولات فضایی شدت جزیره حرارتی سطح کلانشهر تهران با استفاده از تصاویر ماهواره‌ای LANDSAT8 و ASTER

The simplest definition of urbanization is that urbanization is the process of becoming urban. Urban climate is defined by specific climate conditions which differ from surrounding rural areas. Urban areas, for example, have higher temperatures than surrounding rural areas and weaker winds. Land Surface Temperature is an important phenomenon in global climate change. As the green house gases in...
